1. Scope
This policy explains how SoundGrid processes your data when you use the iOS app, including its optional AI Studio, Community Library, and Cloud Backup services.
Playback, organization, recording, and mixing of your own files are performed primarily on your device. Optional services use remote infrastructure for authentication, audio generation, community sharing, backup, and abuse prevention.
2. Data We Process
Local features and content services
The following normally remain on your device: imported audio files, pad and bank configurations, recordings, preferences, local projects, and final mixes created locally.
When you search for or download a sound or image from Freesound or Unsplash, the app communicates directly with the selected service. That service may receive the search query, IP address, and technical information required to process the request.
Local audio streaming makes the selected stream available on your local network while this feature is enabled. SoundGrid does not send this stream to its remote infrastructure.
Optional usage analytics
If you consent in the app, SoundGrid counts feature opens, actions, and choices: pad playback and options (volume, loop, priority, trim, and fades), global controls, banks, import sources including Freesound, recording, local streaming, settings, and AI Studio (track and generation types, duration mode, number of tracks by range, and community-sharing status), as well as library, backup, import, and export activity.
These analytics do not transmit bank or file names, Freesound searches, prompts, text, project names, or audio content. Numeric levels are grouped into ranges before being sent when a distribution is measured.
These events contain no name, email address, prompt, file name, audio content, or image content. They are aggregated on the device before being sent. A random identifier unique to the installation is converted into a different identifier each day; it is not associated with the SoundGrid account and cannot be used to track an ongoing journey across multiple days.
Cloud Backup
When you enable it, banks, pad configurations, audio files, images, and compatible settings are transmitted to SoundGrid’s private infrastructure. File hashes, revisions, source-device information, dates, sizes, statuses, and transfer errors are also processed. Identical files may be deduplicated using their hashes.
AI Studio and account
Using online services requires Sign in with Apple. SoundGrid may process:
- the stable identifier provided by Apple, as well as the name and email address you choose to share, including a private relay address;
- the requested prompts, settings, and generation types, as well as the resulting audio files;
- the date, status, size, and technical identifier of generations;
- quotas, durations, estimated provider costs, diagnostic information, and account status;
- subscription status, product, environment, and expiration date.
The AI provider’s key is not stored in the app. It is kept as a secret in the server infrastructure.
Contact and bug reports
When you use a support form, SoundGrid processes the email address, subject, and message you enter. For a bug report, the app attaches the technical information shown before submission, including the device, iOS and SoundGrid versions, storage space, Cloud and Pro feature status, and certain app settings.
The request is stored in the administration database for follow-up. A notification may be sent to the SoundGrid support address by the transactional email provider Brevo; your address is then used as the reply-to address.
Community Library
When creating a pad from an AI Studio project, the sharing option is offered and enabled by default. You can disable it before creating the pad.
If you leave it enabled, SoundGrid publishes your community nickname, the title, duration, dates, and number of tracks, the project structure and settings, its preview mix, the tracks required to reuse it — including your own imported audio files — and the number of times other members add it.
Other signed-in members can listen to these items, download the project, and modify their own copy. Do not share any sound, voice, title, or content that you wish to keep private or for which you do not have the necessary rights.
An unshared project remains local, except for generated tracks already processed and archived as part of AI Studio. Community sharing is separate from Cloud Backup.
SoundGrid does not collect geolocation, contacts, advertising identifiers, or browsing history for its own purposes.
3. Why We Use This Data
- create and secure the account, perform generations, and enforce quotas;
- verify Apple subscriptions and assign Free or Pro entitlements;
- provide support, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and measure costs;
- back up, restore, and synchronize selected data across devices;
- manage revisions, conflicts, transfer resumptions, and storage limits;
- publish, categorize, distribute, and enable the import of shared creations;
- assign a nickname, count additions, and moderate or remove community content;
- with your consent, measure aggregate feature usage to improve and prioritize the product.
AI Studio processing is necessary to perform the service you request. Cloud Backup is based on your voluntary activation. Community publication follows the choice shown before the pad is created; because this option is enabled by default, check it before confirming if the project must remain private. Security, moderation, and abuse prevention are based on our legitimate interest in operating a reliable service.
Usage analytics are based on your consent. You may decline when asked or change your choice at any time in SoundGrid Settings without losing any functionality.
4. Recipients and Service Providers
SoundGrid does not sell your data or use it for targeted advertising. The following providers may process the information necessary to perform their services:
- Apple: sign-in, purchases, and subscription verification;
- Cloudflare: hosting the Worker, D1 database, and R2 files;
- Brevo: email notifications for contact requests and bug reports;
- ElevenLabs: generation of requested voices, music, and effects;
- Unsplash: image searches at your request;
- Freesound: sound searches and downloads at your request.
The necessary prompts and settings are transmitted to ElevenLabs. The audio result is returned to SoundGrid, and a copy is archived for administration, support, and service traceability.
Cloud Backup content is not transmitted to ElevenLabs. It is stored in a separate private area. Community creations are accessible to signed-in members who view or import them, and to the SoundGrid administrator for operation, support, and moderation.
Data may also be disclosed when required by law, a court order, or the protection of our rights.
5. Data Retention
- Local data remains on the device until it is deleted or the app is uninstalled.
- The account, generation history, and generated files are retained while the account is active and for as long as necessary for the service, support, and security.
- Cloud backups and revisions are retained until they are deleted from the app, the account is deleted, or an announced retention policy is applied.
- Community projects remain published until removed by the administrator or until a deletion request is accepted. A copy already imported by a member may not necessarily be removable from that member’s device.
- Support requests are retained for as long as necessary to process them, follow up on the response, and resolve issues, and are then deleted when no longer needed.
- Detailed usage analytics records are retained for no more than 90 days. Aggregated statistics that can no longer identify an individual installation may be retained for longer.
Deleting the app alone does not erase data stored online. Additional retention may apply to comply with a legal obligation or defend legal rights.
6. Security and Encryption
SoundGrid uses measures including Apple token verification, signed sessions stored in the iOS Keychain, server secrets, protected administrator access, quotas, HTTPS, and private R2 buckets accessible through the authorized Worker.
Cloud Backup is private: it is neither published in the Community Library nor accessible to other users. However, it is not end-to-end encrypted with a key known only to you. Data is protected in transit and by infrastructure access controls, but the SoundGrid administrator and authorized hosting-provider personnel technically have means of accessing content when necessary for operation, support, security, or compliance with a legal obligation. The SoundGrid administrator does not view backups outside these circumstances.
Community content is intended for other members and should not be considered confidential. No system can guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
Under applicable law, including the GDPR, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction of or objection to certain processing, portability of eligible data, and information about its recipients.
To remove a community project, request account deletion, or exercise a right, email contact@jbahu.fr. Reasonable identity verification may be required. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
8. App Permissions
Depending on the features you choose, SoundGrid may request access to files or the photo library, the microphone, background audio, the local network, and Sign in with Apple for online services. You can manage these permissions in iOS Settings.
9. Cookies, Tracking, and Children
The app does not include any advertising SDK, does not use Apple’s advertising identifier, and does not track users across other companies’ apps or websites. Optional usage analytics are internal to SoundGrid and are not used for targeted advertising or data brokerage. The administration dashboard, which is not publicly accessible, uses a strictly necessary and secure session cookie.
AI Studio is not intended for children under 13 without authorization from their legal guardian. Contact us if a child has submitted data inappropriately.
10. International Transfers and Changes
Apple, Cloudflare, ElevenLabs, Unsplash, and Freesound may process certain data outside your country. Where required by law, these transfers are governed by the applicable legal mechanisms used by those providers.
This policy may change as features and providers evolve. Its version and date appear at the top of the page. Material changes may be announced in the app or through SoundGrid services.
